i.knit.lamps by Xandy Peters

The idea came from some of my earlier knitting experiments and one very lumpy hat. With the invention of less flammable light sources (like LEDs) lamps can wear sweaters without burning up. So I decided to find out what a topographic textile looks like in the context of lighting.

Textured felt can be a very interesting material to shine light through. Thickness is pretty consistent, so translucency is actually determined by proximity to the light source. The peaks are dark, while the valleys show more radiant light.

The result is a luminescent pineapple - a very squishy and fuzzy luminescent pineapple.

really-shit:

Vespeo

Vespa and espresso coffee are probably most people’s first impressions when they think about Italy. Stefan Radev successfully combined these two in this beautiful and romantic espresso maker.

Vespeo is currently a concept and we’ll be more than happy to see it in our office soon.

Moniker Cycle Horns (2012) by Taylor Simpson

Artist on Tumblr: via funeralhome

A bicycle handlebar that is made of genuine deer antlers and recycled metal.

I originally came up with the concept of Moniker Cycle Horns while participating in the World’s Longest Yard Sale on Route 127 in 2010, an event I look forward to do every year. While traveling the sale I found a pair of genuine deer antlers a local man was selling somewhere in Kentucky. As a cyclist I thought it would be clever to create bicycle handlebars made of animal horns and antlers.

The final product was eventually put to life as a Package Design assignment for my Fall 2012 Senior Project class with Michael Gerbino at Pratt Institute.
